NFPA 770 First Draft Meeting Underway In Milwaukee August 29, 2018

NFPA’s technical committee on Hybrid (Water and Inert Gas) Fire Extinguishing
Systems is meeting  in Milwaukee, Wisconsin now through Thursday, August 30th.

The committee is following NFPA’s Standards Development Process.   Milestones that mark the committee’s progress after the conclusion of this first draft meeting are:

First Draft Report Posting Date: February 27, 2019

Second Draft
Public Comment Closing Date:  May 8, 2019

Second Draft Report Posting Date: January 22, 2020

Motions Committee Report (NITMAM)
NITMAM Closing Date: February 19, 2020

NITMAM Posting Date: April 1, 2020

Should no NITMAM’s be posted, this new standard could be released in the Spring of 2020.  If NITMAM’s are posted, then the release date would be after the NFPA Annual meeting in June of 2020.

Technical Committee Reviews To Review NFPA 770 Public Comments In Milwaukee August 27, 2018

NFPA’s technical committee on Hybrid (Water and Inert Gas) Fire Extinguishing Systems will gather in Milwaukee, Wisconsin beginning on Tuesday, August 28 through Thursday, August 30th.

The committee is set to review, discuss and act upon the 82 public comments received on the Standard’s first draft.  The breakdown of public comments include:

Chapter 1 – Administration : 1 proposal
Chapter 3 – Definitions :2 proposals
Chapter 4 – General : 4 proposals
Chapter 5 – Components : 33 proposals
Chapter 6 – System Design Requirements : 2 proposals
Chapter 7 – Design-Total Flooding : 17 proposals
Chapter 8 – Design-Local Application :7 proposals
Chapter 10 – System Documentation : 3 proposals
Chapter 11 – Installation Requirements : 3 proposals
Chapter 12 – Acceptance Testing : 1 proposal
Chapter 13 – Inspection, Testing & Maintenance : 8 proposals
Annex A – Explanatory : 3 proposals
