Hello Fellow Rotarians and Friends!
This year of service has raced by far too quickly. It’s hard for me to believe that my year of service is coming to a close. I think Club 27 is staged for its best year yet under President-elect Don’s exceptional leadership.
President-elect Designee, Doug Saltsgaver, shares his thoughts and observations on his Rotary experience and his recent attendance at the Rotary International Convention. I also share some closing comments, too.
Thanks for all of the wonderful words of encouragement and support for Rotary Roundabout. I very much appreciate them!

Hello Fellow Rotarians and Friends!
What a wonderful District 6000 conference this past weekend in West Des Moines. Club 27’s own Suku Radia was the featured speaker during the Friday luncheon.
This week’s special guests are Peter and Cyndi Dorah, past district governors of District 6960 in Florida. They were personal ambassadors appointed by Rotary International President, Barry Rassin, to attend our District conference. I think you’ll enjoy learning more about them and their passion for Rotary.
Thanks for all of the wonderful words of encouragement and support for Rotary Roundabout. I very much appreciate them!

Hello Fellow Rotarians and Friends!
Last week’s Educator Awards program was a wonderful way of celebrating one of Rotary’s Six Areas of focus on basic education and literacy. We recognized five professional educators from the Des Moines Public Schools. They are:
Alison Hoeman – Phillips Elementary School (English K-5)
Mike Marcketti – Central Academy- Mathematics
Maria Howard – Brody Middle School- Language Acquisition (Spanish)
Patrick Lewis – Roosevelt HS – Behavior Disorder Teacher & mentor
Erin Budreau – Findley Elementary – 5th Grade
One of the honorees, Maria Howard, was kind enough to share her comments for Rotary Roundabout. I think you’ll be impressed with her message.
Remember, no meeting this week so that we can attend the District 6000 Conference Luncheon on Friday, May 3 at the Shearton Hotel in West Des Moines. Our our Suku Radia will be the featured speaker.
Thanks for all of the wonderful words of encouragement and support for Rotary Roundabout. I very much appreciate them!
